I’ve seen a lot of posts on my dash tonight about users who are threatening suicide, with other Tumblr members posting in effort to try to get ahold of them. I think you all should see this:
IF THERE IS EVER A TUMBLR USER WHO HAS POSTED A GOOD-BYE MESSAGE, SUICIDE NOTE, VIDEO, OR ANYTHING OF THE SORT, PLEASE FOLLOW THIS POST.
1. Scroll to the top of your dashboard.
2. See the circular question mark icon at the top? It’s the third one over from your home symbol. Click on that, and a screen similar to the one in the picture will come up.
3. Where you can type in questions, the box with the magnifying glass at the top, type in the word “suicide.”
4. Click on the first link that shows up. It should say, “Pass the URL of the blog on to us.”
5. Type in the user’s URL and tell Tumblr admin that the user is contemplating suicide and has posted a message indicating that they are going through with it or will be attempting. Hit send! Tumblr administration will perform a number of actions to contact the user and take the necessary steps to prevent the suicide.
TUMBLR: THIS COULD SAVE A USER’S LIFE. PLEASE DO NOT IGNORE SUICIDE THREATS.
Reblog this to keep other users aware. Suicide isn’t a joke, and neither is someone’s life. If you didn’t know this, someone else may not, either. Pass it on.

why on earth doesn’t this have more notes

I actually had to do this once. She lived.

if you scroll past this on your dash you are absolutely heartless.

Wow I did not know about this feature but I’m really glad I do now.

“Share a coke with Sherlock” is some pretty unfortunate phrasing given what we know about the guy’s drug habits.

I snorted.

Women: Equal to Men or Forks

An Essay I Wrote

What toys did you own as a child? If you’re female, the likelihood is that you owned several dolls, with bleach blonde pony tails, an unrealistically curvy body, with huge breasts and a tiny waist. Beauty that is ridiculously unattainable. From a young age we are taught that looks are the most important thing in society, and because of generations of idiocy, it is true. Society has indoctrinated women to believe that their worth depends on their appearance, and teaches men that that this is what’s important about women. The media might as well fly a blimp around the world that has a sign on saying “DEAR WOMEN, YOUR INDEPENDENCE, INTELLIGANCE AND CONFIDENCE DOESN’T MATTER AS LONG AS YOU HAVE ARE SEXUALLY ATTRACTIVE.” If women do not look a certain way, they’re scrutinised. Society is abusing the women of our planet. 53% of 13 year old girls are unhappy with their bodies. By the time they’re 17, that goes up to a staggering 78%. 65% of women and girls have an eating disorder. 17% of teens engage in self harm. The rates of depression among females have doubled between 2000 and 2010. Who is to blame for the pain that women feel every day? The media. How many films can you think of, in which the protagonist is female and the plot does not strongly involve her relationship with a male? I bet you can’t think of more than four. When you watch movies, women are always portrayed in a manor where they need to be protected, take most of the Disney films; Rapunzel is rescued by the Prince, all the women in Cinderella are throwing themselves at the Prince, Sleeping Beauty is awakened by the Princes’ kiss. The Princess is never the saviour. Chick flicks, such as the Notebook and the Last Song, centre the female protagonist’s romantic relationships, which are the whole plot. Where is as in films that star a male, such as Harry Potter and Indiana Jones, the plot can be anything from adventure to comedy. Their love lives are only subplots, if they’re even there. These roles can easily be played by women; it could have been Harriet Potter or India Jones, but no. I wonder why? Women are also overly sexualised in society. I bet that’s a surprise. If a woman of an inadequate body weight comes onto the television to sing a song or play a role, she is often mocked. Because society decide to call her ‘extremely inventive’ insults such as ‘you big fat whale.’ Joan Rivers, a victim of society and comedian, criticised singer-song writer Adele last year, saying that her top charting song ‘rolling in the deep’ is about her rolling in ‘deep fried chicken.’ Ha. Ha. How hilarious. Her talent has been overlooked because she doesn’t fit the public image. Women’s talents aren’t appreciated because they’re hyper sexualised. An object is something that is acted upon, whereas the subject is the thing that acts. A fork is an object because it is used to hold food for the subject, the human. Women are sexual objects, who in men’s eyes only exist for sexual pleasure and raising children. Men rape women because they don’t see them as people, but as an object they can have sex with. If you turn on any television show, chances are you will see a man ‘checking out’ the things he is interested in, usually her bum and her breasts. So effectively girls, we are treated the same as pencils. We’re there to do a job. Last year the top two songs were ‘Blurred Lines ‘a song by Robin Thicke that screams Rohypnol and lack of consent and Get Lucky’, a song about staying up all night to have sex with woman. This shows how poetic the music of our society is, doesn’t it? Repeating the phrase ‘I know you want it’ to a woman is obviously the best way to charm her. And unless you’re a misogynistic bigot, you would realise that was sarcasm. The breast cancer campaign last year was ‘save second base.’ So society, what we are being told is that we should stop breast cancer, an illness that kills more people than any other cancer in the world, not to save our lives, but so men can touch our boobs. How selfish of us to think otherwise. Finally, I believe that when sexism is no longer a problem, other world issues will begin to improve: such as homophobia. Homophobia can be seen as the hatred of women. The worst insult you can say to a man is that ‘you’re acting like a girl.’ They don’t understand how a man can desire another man because that is them giving up the power they hold over what they believe to be the ‘weaker sex.’ This is an insult to homosexuals and women. So girls, believe in yourself, don’t be told that you’re too fat to do something, or that you’re too ugly to be a singer. Because if that was a man, chances are, they’d be out there right now, singing their heart out. You’re not an object, if you believe this, then you’re self-confidence should rise to the heavens. Be strong, this is a battle all women are fighting, a battle we’re going to win.

I wrote this as an essay for my English GCSE (I’m 14) feedback would be nice?
